About Dave Chappelle
Dave Chappelle was born on August 24, 1973 in Washington, D.C. He started in the famous Apollo Theater. He performed standup comedy before earning his first role in Robin Hood: Men in Tights at the age of 19. He made a guest appearance on Home Improvement and The Nutty Professor, which was commercially successful. He starred in the 1998 films Half Baked and You’ve Got Mail. In 1999, he had a role in Blue Streak and in 2000, Chappelle recorded his HBO special Dave Chappelle: Killin’ Them Softly. He also had a role in 2002’s Undercover Brother.
His sketch comedy Chappelle’s Show was a critical success and he in 2004 produced a documentary called Dave Chappelle’s Block Party. He has made regular standup appearances throughout his career, including several on HBO. He broke the record for stand-up endurance in 2007. He performed a 10-night set at the Radio City Music Hall in 2014 and had a role in Chi-Raq in 2015. He hosted Saturday Night Live in 2016 and signed a contract with Netflix to release three stand-up comedy specials.
