About William Shatner
William Shatner was born on March 22, 1931, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His acting began in the 1950’s and has only seemed to improve and make him even more successful.
Shatner’s most notable role early on was that of Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek, titled “Where No Man Has Gone Before.” After the success of this, he was hired for the same role in Star Trek from 1966 to 1969 on NBC. When this was cancelled, he did experience a setback and had trouble finding new roles. He was still able to guest star on series like Columbo, Ironside, and Mission: Impossible, but his huge break was the comeback of Star Trek with the film in 1979.
He became the CEO of the Canadian-based C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures from 1994 to 2010. He was cast as a Miss United States Pageant Judge in Miss Congeniality (2000) and Miss Congeniality 2, a role that he played with Candace Bergen, who would later be a counterpart in his award-winning role in Boston Legal. He has appeared in music videos created by popular singers such as Brad Paisley, and he has been on late night shows such as The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. He released an autobiography Up Till Now: The Autobiography in 2008.
Shatner’s list of nominations and awards is very large and includes numerous Primetime Emmy Awards; Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, US, Canadian Screen Awards; Online Film & Television Association Awards; Screen Actors Guild Awards; Television Critics Association Awards; and many more. Most notably, he won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television through his role in 2004’s Boston Legal.
