Akon, born Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam was born on April the 16th 1973 in Missouri and is an American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer and businessman of Senegalese descent. With a career that took off in 2004 with the release of the hit single Locked up from his first album Trouble, a song which topped the charts all over the world, Akon cemented himself as an artist with a unique sound.
He then released his second album Konvicted and third album Freedom, touring with the likes of Gwen Stefani, Rihanna, T-Pain, and Usher to promote his music, he is also known for working as an actor in recent years with films such as Black November and the action film American Heist a 2014 action film that starred Hayden Christensen and Adrien Brody.
