Amerie Mi Marie Nicholson, better known as Amerie, is an American singer and songwriter who performs R&B, soul, funk and pop music. She was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, United States, on January 12, 1980. Amerie began her music career in 2001, and the following year she released her debut single Why Don’t We Fall in Love. Her discography includes the hit singles 1 Thing, Talkin’ To Me, I Just Died, Touch, Nothing Like Loving You, and the studio projects All I Have, 4AM Mulholland, and In Love & War. Her music was featured in the album 00s Party Mixtape alongside Ludacris, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Calvin Harris, and Shakira. Amerie won a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist, an Aretha Franklin Award for Entertainer of the Year at the Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, and a Vibe Award for Club Banger of the Year.
