Antwan Andre Patton, who is recognized by his stage name Big Boi, was born on February 1, 1975, in Savannah, Georgia. After experiencing major success as one half of the duo OutKast, with whom he released six studio albums, he embarked on his solo career. The beginnings of his solo endeavor date back to 2003, when he and fellow OutKast member released their twin album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, the former being the production of Big Boi. In 2005, he released the compilation/mixtape Got Purp? Vol. 2, and lent guest vocals to the UGK song “International Players Anthem (I Choose You)”. Big Boi released his debut album in 2010, entitled Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, which he followed with the second album Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors in 2012. The album featured guest vocals from Kelly Rowland, Ludacris, A$AP Rocky, and B.oB., among others. In 2014, Big Boi signed a deal with Epic Records in preparation for his third studio album.
