Big Daddy Kane is the stage name of the American rapper and actor Antonio Hardy. He was born in New York City, New York on September 10, 1968. He started his career in music in a rap collective called the Juice Crew in 1986. In 1987 he was signed to the label Cold Chillin’ Records and released his debut single titled “Raw.” In 1988 he released his debut studio album titled Long Live the Kane with Cold Chillin’ Records which reached number 5 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album featured the hit song “Ain’t No Half Steppin’” which reached number 53 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Song chart. He has since released the albums It’s a Big Daddy Thing, Taste of Chocolate, Price of Darkness, Looks Like a Job For…, Daddy’s Home, and Veteranz’ Day. In 1993 he made his debut in film in the movie Posse as Father Time. He went on to land roles in the films The Meteor Man, Dave Chappele's Block Party, Dead Heist, Love for Sale, Just Another Day, and Exposed. In 2018 he made his debut on television in the series Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
