Rodney Basil Price (also known as Bounty Killer, Bounty Hunter, Warlord, Ghetto Gladiator, Poor People’s Governor, and Five Star General) is a Jamaican DJ, rapper, and singer whose birthplace is Bob Marley’s infamous Trenchtown. Price performs music in the dancehall, reggae, rap, and hip-hop genres, and began his career as a DJ at the young age of nine.
During his 20+ year career, Price has released numerous albums. His debut came in 1993 with the Jamaica’s Most Wanted album, which was followed in 1995 by two more albums – Down In the Ghetto, and No Argument. 1996’s album, My Xperience was star-studded, featuring collaborations with the likes of the Fugees, Busta Rymes, Barrington Levy, and Dennis Brown. The album peaked in the top 30 on the R&B charts.
Over the next few years, Price continued to release albums, including: Ghetto Gramma (1997), Next Millennium (1998), The Fifth Element (1999), Ghetto Dictionary: The Art of War (2002), and Ghetto Dictionary: The Mystery (2002). “Deadly Zone,” a hit single off his 1998 album, peaked in the top ten on the rap charts.
