Known to the music industry as E-40, rapper and investor Earl Stevens was born November 15, 1967, in Vallejo, California. His rap career began in 1990, when he debuted his EP Let’s Side. The EP dropped when he was part of a hip-hop quartet known as The Click, which featured three other rappers from the Vallejo area. He released it under his own independent label, Sick Wid it Records. Through the label, E-40 would go on to release his debut solo album Federal. After recording and releasing a number of singles and albums with The Click, E-40 was signed to Jive Records in 1994, under whom he would release six albums, starting with In a Major Way in 1995. Two of the singles from the album charted on the Billboard Hot 100 list.

E-40 gained a slot on the San Francisco based radio station KMEL, on which he became the host of the show E-Feezy Radio, which recognition to hip-hop and rap artists of the area. In 2006, his album My Ghetto Report Card shot to the #1 spot on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 200 list. In total, E-40 went on to release nearly two dozen albums, many of which pertain to a series. These albums feature tracks with guest features from Tupac Shakur, Mac Mall, T-Pain, and many others.
