Rapper Flo Rida was born Tramar Dillard in Carol City, Florida, on September 16, 1979. He was born into a family of all women, growing up with seven sisters, and all of them including Flo Rida sang in a gospel music group. When he was a young teenager, Flo Rida and three of his friends formed a rap group, calling themselves the GroundHoggz. They recorded and performed together for a total of eight years before going their separate ways, and while Flo Rida was studying at Barry University, he was contacted by the label Poe Boy Entertainment, who was interested in his music. They signed him in 2006, and after meeting and working with artists such as T-Pain, and Dre, he released his debut album Mail on Sunday in 2008. The first single to ever be released was “Low” with T-Pain, and charted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
