About K-Ci And JoJo
K-Ci & Jojo is an American R&B duo comprised of Cedric (September 2, 1969) and Joel Hailey (June 10, 1971). They are most popularly known for creating their popular R&B 90’s group, Jodeci. The Hailey brothers grew up in North Carolina, where they would sign for church choirs and toured with their father’s gospel group. Cedric and Joel met the DeGrate brothers Dalvin ‘Mr. Dalvin’ and Donald ‘DaVante’ Swing in 1989, forming the group Jodeci. The group signed with Uptown in 1991 and released their first album, ‘Forever My Lady’, followed by ‘Diary of a Mad Band’ in 1993 and ‘The Show, the After Party, the Hotel’ in 1995, all of which went platinum, certified by the RIAA. Whilst performing with Jodeci, the duo released their first solo album in 1997 titled ‘Love Always’. Their first album contains some of K-Ci & Jojo’s biggest hits such as ‘You Bring Me Up’, ‘Last Night’s Letter’ and their biggest single to date, ‘All My Life’. The R&B ballad ‘All My Life’ became the number 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks. In 1998, Jodeci disbanded and K-Ci and Jojo went on to pursue their solo albums. They released their second album, ‘It’s Real’, in 1999 which received high acclaim, landing at number 8 on the Billboard 200, number 2 on the R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart, New Zealand Top 40 albums and was certified platinum by the RIAA. The duo had garnered great success on their own, releasing a third album in 2000 titled ‘X’ which is also certified platinum, followed by ‘Emotional’ in 2002 and their fifth album being ‘My Brother’s Keeper’ in 2013. K-Ci and Jojo reached the height of their career and by 2014, Jodeci reunited for a performance at 2014 Soul Train Awards. With the help of producer Timbaland, aided Jodeci on the production of their comeback album, ‘The Past, the Present, the Future’ in 2015. K-Ci and Jojo have greatly influenced R&B today and has worked with 2Pac, Biggie, Gang Starr and TWENTY88 amongst many others.
