Lizzo, born Melissa Jefferson on April the 27th 1988 in Detroit Michigan is an American alternative hip hop artist, and a founding member of such indie hip hop groups such as Absynthe, Ellypseas, The Clerb, Grrl Prty and The Chalice. Signed with totally Gross National Product, BGSW and Atlantic Records, her career began in 2012.

Her debut album Lizobangers was released in 2013 and was a critical success, with girl powering lyrics and social consciousness at its core, it contained singles such as Go, Bloodlines and Paris. Her second album came soon after and is titled Big Grrrl Small World and was also a success. Lizzo has also made guest appearances alongside Clean Bandit, Prince, Bastille and Speedy Ortiz and many more.
