Al Green is an American singer, songwriter and record producer born in Forrest City, Arkansas on April 13, 1946. He is also known as The Reverend Al Green and is best known for his songs “Let’s Stay Together”, “Take Me to the River”, “I’m Still in Love With You”, “Tired of Being Alone”, and “Love and Happiness.” Green began performing at the age of ten in a family group created with his brothers called the Greene Brothers. He released his debut studio album in 1967 titled Back Up Train and has since released 24 other studio albums, including Green Is Blues, Call Me, Al Green Is Love, Full of Fire, The Belle Album, Precious Lord, Soul Survivor, I Got Joy, Your Heart’s in Good Hands, Lay It Down and more. He has also released 25 compilation albums, a live album, and a number of singles. In 1995 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and in 2004 he was inducted into the Gospel Music Association’s Gospel Music Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into The Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004. In 2009 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2009 BET Awards.
