About The Lumineers
Formed officially in 2005, the folk rock group The Lumineers’ two founding members are Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites, who wrote songs and performed them in various venues across New York. The duo was later joined by Neyla Pekarek, a cellist, Stelth Ulvang, and Ben Wahamaki to solidify the quintet lineup. In 2011, they were signed to Onto Entertainment, a management company which funded the production of their first album. Later that year, their single “Ho Hey” was featured on the show Hart of Dixie, and they were able to release The Lumineers in the spring of 2012 through Dualtone Records. The single “Ho Hey” later went double Platinum. The group was honored with two Grammy nominations in 2012 for Best New Artist and Best Americana Album, and shortly after, they released a deluxe version of their debut album with new material.
