Warren G, born Warren Griffin III, is a rapper and producer from Long Beach, California. Initially brought into the industry through his step-brother, Dr. Dre, he established himself as his own artist with his debut album in 1994, Regulate… G Funk Era. The album featured the single “Regulate,” which peaked at #2 on the Billboard 100, becoming Def Jam’s biggest single, and the album was eventually certified triple Platinum by the RIAA. It also became a landmark recording for the G Funk sound. Warren G continued to champion the sound with his subsequent album, releasing five over the following fifteen years. His most recent project was a 2015 EP titled Regulate… G Funk Era, Pt. II, which featured unreleased vocals from the late Nate Dogg, who featured on the original “Regulate” over twenty years prior.
