"The Bitter Jester Music Festival (BJMF) is the Midwest's largest professional music competition for young musicians (bands & solo artists, typically ages 12-21). The concert series gives musicians an opportunity to receive professional feedback from working musicians & industry pros and meet dozens of other musicians. BJMF provides a level of media exposure, professional mentorship, and networking that is unmatched by other other competitions. Performers receive written & numerical feedback, a board feed recording and multi-track recordings (plus access to discounted rates for mixing), a concert photo shoot, real-time verbal commentary by members of BJMF's Education Team, podcast interviews, and more! At least half the band members must be 21 or younger to apply (age cap is 26). Select bands are also chosen for Concerts at Navy Pier in Chicago and historic Ravinia Festival. 101.9 The Mix FM is the Media Sponsor." The festival takes place on consecutive Fridays in late May/Early June, with the Grand Finale Concert + Fireworks on the 4th of July.
